A theater of intrigue and fascinating stories, fortress, royal palace and then museum, the Louvre today houses one of the most important art collections in the world, ranging from Antiquity to the mid-19th century.
Created in the middle of the Reign of Terror, in 1793, to publicly display the royal collections, it has since continued to expand and amaze. We will discover its history, from its origins with the vestiges of the medieval fortress, the Renaissance-style ballroom commissioned by Henri II, passing through the sumptuous salons in the Napoleon III style to its new renovated rooms.
We will admire emblematic sculptures such as the Winged Victory of Samothrace or the Venus de Milo, works by the great geniuses of the Italian Renaissance such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, the splendid Baroque with paintings by Caravaggio and the rigid neoclassicism of Jacques-Louis David, to finish with the romanticism of Eugène Delacroix and Théodore Géricault.
Painting, sculpture, furniture and magnificent architectural views will surprise you.
